Herniated Disc

Many people with back pain or leg pain are diagnosed with a herniated disc. When a disc is herniated, the gelatinous material in the centre of the disc is pushed out through weak or degenerated areas in the fibrous outer layer of the disc. When this happens the herniated material pushes and irritates the spinal nerve roots or the spinal cord causing painful neurological symptoms.
